Sgt. William Stacey, a squad leader who served with Weapons Company, 2nd
Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star
Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device for valor during a ceremony at
Camp Pendleton on on February 15, 2013.
Stacey is described by many of his peers as a perfect Marine.
Always putting his squad before himself, Sgt. Stacey successfully led
his Marines through one combat engagement after another in Afghanistan.
He was killed during a combat operation on January 31, 2012, in Helmand
province, Afghanistan.
