The family of U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Gurpreet Singh receives the Bronze
Star Medal with Combat V on Singh's behalf during an award ceremony at

Corporal Singh, a native of Punjab, India, who immigrated to Sacramento,
CA, was a fire team leader who served with 1st Battalion, 5th Marine
Regiment. He was killed in action in Sangin district, Helmand Province,
Afghanistan on June 22, 2011 ... when leading his Marines through
intense fighting.
