Camp Lejeune (May 3, 2013) - Cpl.
Christian Brown was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action
against the enemy while serving as a squad leader for 1st
Battalion, 6th Marines in Helmand province, Afghanistan in
2011 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Cpl. Brown lost both legs when he stepped on an explosive device
during his heroic actions that earned him the Silver Star, which is the third highest military award a service member can receive.
