October 3, 2016 - An Air Force carry team carries the remains of Maj. Troy Gilbert at Dover Air Force Base, Del. Gilbert was killed Nov. 27, 2006, when his F-16C Fighting Falcon crashed 20 miles northwest of Baghdad. U.S. forces were able to return the F-16 pilot's remains approximately 10 years after he was killed in combat operations saving the lives of U.S. service members and coalition allies. October 15, 2016 - A Marine holds his son for the first time during a deployment homecoming aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC. More than 120 Marines with Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 4 returned after a six-month deployment with the United States Central Command aboard Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. According to Lt. Col. Paul K. Johnson III, commanding officer for VMAQ-4, the Marines conducted electronic warfare and disrupted ISIS communications in Iraq and Syria in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Robert "Champ" Guyette II, a test pilot from the F-35 Pax River Integrated Test Force (ITF) assigned to the Salty Dogs of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 23, flies over the stealth guided-missile destroyer USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) as the ship transits the Chesapeake Bay. USS Zumwalt, the Navy's newest and most technologically advanced surface ship, joined the fleet Oct. 15, 2016. Oct. 22, 2016 - A U.S. Army paratrooper assigned to Company D, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, fires a M240B machine gun during a live-fire exercise at Drawsko Pomorskie Training Area, Poland. The exercise enhanced the paratroopers ability to engage targets consecutively with the TOW system and M240B machine gun. The ‘Sky Soldiers’ of D Co., 2nd Bn., 503rd Inf. Regt., are on a training rotation in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, a U.S. led effort in Eastern Europe that demonstrates U.S. commitment to the collective security of NATO and dedication to enduring peace and stability in the region.
