Peter Spiro, son of retired Col. Michael Spiro, delivers an urn containing his father's ashes to Capt. Scott Tait, executive officer, aboard future USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) on October 14, 2016. Col. Spiro was the long time aide-de-camp of Adm. Elmo Zumwalt, the ship namesake. Zumwalt, the lead ship of a class of next-generation multi-mission destroyers designed to strengthen naval power from the sea, was commissioned October 15th in Baltimore.
