Sgt. Patrick
Tainsh
received the Silver and
Bronze Stars posthumously
for his fatal heroic actions
while serving in Iraq on
February 11, 2004.
Tainsh, a
cavalry scout and the CO's
gunner, was on patrol in
western Baghdad, Iraq, when
a roadside IED struck his
Humvee. Wounded in the
explosion, Tainsh fired more
than 400 rounds at the
ambushing insurgents to
allow eight wounded soldiers
to be evacuated before dying
from his wounds.
