Our son, Major Brian Polk received the Bronze Star Medal for his meritorious duty in the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The two photos show Major Polk with with his mom and dad (top) and his family... wife, Beth, and children, Thomas, Ryan, Rebecca, and Tara. Major Polk is a RN who served with the 21st Combat Support Hospital. During his tour, he directed convoy perimeter security when one of the medical supply trucks got stuck in the sand during a nearby fire fight in the early stages of the war. Later, Major Polk was the head nurse for a ward in the Combat Hospital specifically for wounded Iraqi soldiers. Major Polk participated in the toys for kids program to provide toys for Iraqi children in the local Balad hospital. Information and photos provided by Major Brian Polk's father, Peter Polk. |
