The Arleigh Burke-class
guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69) launches a
Standard (Harpon) Missile (SM) 2 during a missile exercise
(MSLEX) along with firing its mark 45 5-inch gun during its
deployment in the Philippine Sea during March 2019.
MSLEXs are designed to increase the
tactical proficiency, lethality, and interoperability of
participating units in an Era of Great Power Competition.
