U.S. Army soldiers from the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment
(The Old Guard) place U.S. flags in front of the over 260,000
headstones and approximately 7,000 niche rows in Arlington National
Cemetery (ANC) during the 75th anniversary of Flags In ahead of the National Memorial Day Observance.
This
is the 75th anniversary of this time-honored tradition, and gives
Old Guard soldiers the opportunity not only to honor our nation’s
finest but to connect with the generations of servicemembers who
have come before them.
Arlington, our nation's most hallowed ground ... is
the final resting place for more than 400,000 active
duty service members, veterans and their families. This solemn national shrine is an active cemetery
conducting between 27 and 30 funerals each week day ...
and is a living memorial to our Nation's heroes ... that
is a must experience when visiting Washington, D.C.
