Raymond Murphy was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for
his actions near the Imjin River, North Korea in February of
1953.
During the aftermath of a failed assault on enemy positions
Raymond Murphy organized the withdrawal of the battered troops
and repeatedly went into the continuing fight to retrieve fallen
members of two other platoons.
He continued to go back into enemy fire even after being wounded
twice until all the men were accounted for.
