Gary Beikirch was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his
actions in Kontum Province, South Vietnam in April of 1970. Gary Beikirch
paints a picture of Special Operations Forces that is often overlooked as he
tells the story of the battle for Kontum Province.
Early in the battle Beikirch was wounded and left unable to walk. He
enlisted the help of others to carry him from casualty to casualty treating
wounds until he was unable.
