Petty Officer Second Class Michael A. Monsoor was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor on
April 8, 2008 for his heroic actions in Ar Ramadi, Iraq on September 29, 2006.

| (April 8, 2008) President George W. Bush
presents the Medal of Honor to George and Sally Monsoor Tuesday,
April 8, 2008 during a ceremony in the East Room of the White House
for the actions of their son during combat in Iraq. Master-at-Arms
2nd Class (Seal) Michael A. Monsoor has been posthumously awarded
the Medal of Honor for diving onto a grenade to save his teammates
in Ar Ramadi, Iraq on Sept. 29, 2006. Monsoor also received the
Silver Star for his actions in May during the same deployment in
2006 when he exposed himself to heavy enemy fire to rescue and treat
