A stunning view of the Manta Ray Uncrewed Undersea Vehicle (UUV) prototype as it breaks the clear surface at an undisclosed location during a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in-water testing in the Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Point Mugu Sea Range during March 2024.

• Carry a variety of payloads

• Operate autonomously (independently of manned vessels and ports)

• Anchor to the seafloor and hibernate in a low-power state

• Dive deeper than any submarine

• Harvest energy directly from the sea

• Control its own lift

NBVC is a strategically located Naval installation composed of three operating facilities: Point Mugu, Port Hueneme and San Nicolas Island. NBVC is the home of the Pacific Seabees, West Coast E-2D Hawkeyes, 3 warfare centers and 110 tenants.
