Lyrics - CD
version
I have seen the torch of freedom pass from hand to
yearning hand And the vision of our fathers spread hope
throughout this land As the dream some fought and died for in my
heart, becomes my own I will strive to keep her promise, America,
my home!
America!, America! May God bless America! And
freedom reign across America, my home!
From the shorelines to
the prairies to the cities, great and small We have reaped the
fruits of justice and liberty for all So with deep appreciation
for the blessings we have known I will honor her forever,
America, my home!
America!, America! May God bless America!
And freedom reign across America, my home!
America!, America!
May God bless America! And freedom reign across America, my home!
May freedom reign across America, my home!

Story behind America, My Home! (Anthem for the Millennium)
While
working on a book about the interdependence of freedom and
character, Dr. George Simon experienced a rekindling of his own
patriotic spirit. He scored a melody that had been haunting him for
nearly 7 years, and collaborating with his wife, Dr. Sherry Simon
penned the straight-from-the-heart lyrics of the song. Initially
performed to a cheering crowd on Memorial Day, 2000, the song gained
popularity after the attacks of 9-11 when a regional television
station paired the song with a video montage of the historic events.
Since then it has touched the hearts of audiences totaling over one
million through public performances, radio airplay, and other
venues. Performance attendees and music reviewers have acclaimed
America, My Home! as one of the most heartwarming and most
inspirational patriotic songs ever written, and a timeless piece
that often evokes "goosebumps."
When Country Music Showdown
National Champion Ricky David Tripp inquired about inspiration for
the song, Dr. Simon replied: “I believe sincerely that the greatness
of America lies not in our wealth of resources, the might of our
military, or the form of our government, but in the character of
our people upon which our freedom completely depends. Each of us has
a responsibility to keep freedom alive. I really try to convey that
message in this song.”
About Ricky David Tripp
Ricky David
Tripp is the one of the most seen and heard musical entertainer in
Arkansas. His first television appearance was at the age of 14 on
The Vic Ames Show, with the legendary former Ames Brother and the
Henry Shedd Trio. After teaming with his brother Mike, The Tripp
Brothers were featured in the early 80s on the regionally syndicated
musical variety television series Illusions. In 1987 Tripp won a
spot on the legendary You Can Be A Star! show on The Nashville
Network (TNN), finishing in the final four and making more than 47
subsequent TNN broadcast performances between 1987 and 1994.
In
1992, Tripp came out of a national field of more than 60,000
performers, to win the The True Value/GMC Truck Country Showdown,
taking the stage with Kenny Rogers and Louise Mandrell, and Doug
Stone. Having landing an RCA recording contract, the title 'Best New
Artist in Country Music' and a $50,000 grand prize, Tripp was later
featured as an opening act for such notables as Vince Gill, Mary
Chapin Carpenter, Kathy Mattea, Glen Campbell and Jerry Jeff Walker.
After experiencing a lull in his career, Tripp made a major comeback
in early 2001 with a new patriotic song penned by Dr. George Simon,
'America, My Home,' which exploded in popularity after the attacks
of September 11. Tripp was asked by then Arkansas Governor Mike
Huckabee to perform the song in a patriotic event that also featured
recording artist Tracy Lawrence at the Riverfront Amphitheatre
before a crowd of 25,000 who gave Tripp a standing ovation.
The
event was also carried by regional ABC affiliates, featured on CNN,
and the song was played over the Armed Forces Radio Network. After
performing 'America, My Home' for thousands throughout the state,
including many military groups and bases during 2002, a corporate
sponsor flew Tripp the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas to perform the song
in a program that included former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and
former Democratic advisor James Carville. Tripp's performance for
the packed crowd served as a tribute to the Columbia astronauts
whose craft had crashed hours earlier.
Tripp has recently
connected with 60s folk and pop legend Jimmie Rodgers (of
'Honeycomb' fame). Rogers, who had more than three dozen chart
singles, including 'Kisses Sweeter Than Wine,' 'Child of Clay,' and
the popular ballad, 'It's Over,' approached Tripp about recording an
album of yet unrecorded original songs.
Also an accomplished
magician recently inducted into Ring 29 of the International
Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM),Tripp continues to perform in the
central Arkansas area and has entered his fourth year as a featured
entertainer at The Wyndham Hotel of North Little Rock AR, where he
performs music and magic three nights per week in the facility's
Riverfront Steakhouse. Purchase Ricky David Tripp's CD: Anthem
