Bear Glacier Flows Into Bear Lagoon December 27, 2024
A stunning view of the Bear Glacier flowing from the 700 square mile Harding Icefield, the central feature of Kenai Fjords National Park ... in the distance ... as it terminates in the Bear Lagoon. Kenai Fjords was designated as a National Park through the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA) in 1980, Kenai Fjords maintains the scenic and environmental integrity of this landscape of ice, tidewater glaciers, deeply chiseled fjords, jagged peninsulas and the abundance of thriving life it supports within its over 600,000 acres. It is located just outside the town of Seward in south-central Alaska, 126 miles south of Anchorage with its fjords along the Gulf of Alaska. Note: A fjord is a long, narrow inlet of the sea.
