National Airborne Day Parachute Jump August 23, 2024
August 16, 2024 - A U.S. Army parachutist with the Fort Moore Silver Wings Parachute Demonstration Team descends toward a designated landing zone during the National Airborne Day Celebration. The Maneuver Center of Excellence and Fort Moore, the birthplace of the Airborne, celebrates National Airborne Day with a parachute jump demonstration and U.S. Army Basic Airborne Course graduation ceremony. Former President George W. Bush proclaimed August 16, 2001, as the first National Airborne Day to commemorate the first official Army parachute jump, which took place on August 16, 1940.
