Marines Boat Raid LPD 20 Departure August 6, 2024 August 2, 2024 - U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, depart the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) during a boat raid exercise off the coast of Okinawa, Japan. Marines and Sailors with BLT 1/4 conducted the raid exercise to strengthen and refine company tactics and procedures, improve their ability to conduct assaults from ship to shore and ensure readiness for real-world scenarios. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
