Vivid Orange Spring Mound May 14, 2024 Larger Image > Facebook | Flickr Orange Spring Mound, part of Mammoth Hot Springs, is a stunning must see mix of vivid orange related colors when visiting Yellowstone National Park. Orange Spring flows from several vents at its top and side. Its striking colors come from the thermophiles living in the hot water. Orange Spring is among the network of fractures and fissures that form the plumbing system that allows hot water from underground to reach the surface of Mammoth Hot Springs that continues its ongoing creation. On March 1, 1872, Yellowstone became the first national park for all to enjoy the unique hydrothermal and geologic wonders. People from around the world have been drawn to Yellowstone to witness these wonders for themselves. Now, millions of people come to Yellowstone each year to make lifelong memories of watching erupting geysers, roaming wildlife, and the artistry of thermophiles.
