Coast Guard Art Program 2024 May 4, 2024 April 29, 2024 - A glimpse of Coast Guard Art Program 2024 fine art by Coast Guard artists illustrating the story of the service's missions, heroes and history for the public through displays at museums, libraries and patriotic events. Top Left - Absorbing The Roll by Ken Stetz ... Coast Guard Cutters ANGELA MCSHAN and SENECA conduct joint search and rescue drills. Crew members aboard the ANGELA MCSHAN brace against heavy rolls as the SENECA makes its approach during a simulated disabled vessel drill. The cutter ANGELA MCSHAN stands dead in the water during the drill, simulating the challenging rescue cases these cutters address. Top Right - Turned Away by Kristin Hosbein ... Crew of the Coast Guard Cutter ISAAC MAYO interdicted migrants aboard this risky craft some 70 miles south of Key West, Florida. A week later, the migrants were repatriated to Cuba. The Coast Guard is tasked with enforcing immigration law at sea. Its migrant interdiction operations are often as much humanitarian efforts as they are law enforcement missions. In fact, many migrant interdiction cases actually begin as search and rescue missions and usually on the high seas rather than in U.S. coastal waters. Bottom Left - Hoist To Safety by Odie Tucker, Jr. ... A Coast Guard MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from the Aviation Training Center (ATC) in Mobile, Alabama, lower a crew member to assist in the hoist of an injured man to a 41-foot rescue boat from Station Panama City as part of a search and rescue exercise at the Panama City Marina. The ATC is both a training facility and an operational air station with responsibility from the Louisiana-Texas border to the eastern edge of the Florida panhandle. Bottom Right - Surf Training In New Jersey by Leon Wescoat, III ... Crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light in New Jersey practiced surf training when turbulent storms created large swells and turbulent seas. Surfmen are among the Service’s most proficient small boat operators. Crews undergo rigorous training to ensure that they are prepared to respond to distress calls and maritime emergencies during heavy storms. The station, one of 19 Coast Guard surf stations, is located on a barrier island northeast of Atlantic City. The Art is also displayed in offices of members of Congress, senior officials of the executive branch of government and other military services and at Coast Guard locations throughout the country.
