Moraine Park Sunrise December 18, 2023 Mornings in the Moraine Park Meadow can be a fantastic sight, as the sunshine slowly creeps down the valley within the snow covered Rocky Mountain National Park. A relic of geologic history, Moraine Park was carved by ancient glaciers that flowed through the region. At the beginning of the park’s history, it was used as a golf course and resort. Following the removal of these artificial structures, Moraine Park has returned to its natural state as a meadow. Moraine Park is located and accessed off of Bear Lake Road. Here, you can find trailheads for both Cub Lake and Fern Lake. Rocky Mountain National Park includes some of the highest mountains in the continental United States. The top third of the park encompasses the alpine tundra, a windswept land above the trees. Landscapes on either side of the Continental Divide feature alpine lakes, forested valleys and a wide range of plants and animals. Iconic summer thunderstorms and persistent winter winds are among the forces that continue to shape this majestic landscape. Image created by USA Patriotism! from U.S. National Park Service photo.
