USS Ronald Reagan Flight Ops In North Pacific October 6, 2023
October 1, 2023 - The U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), conducts flight operations at an undisclosed location in the North Pacific Ocean. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region. Top Left ... An EA-18G Growler, attached to the Shadowhawks of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 141, lands on the flight deck of the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). The primary role of EA-18G Growlers is to disrupt communications between units in combat through the use of electronic warfare. Top Right ... An E-2D Hawkeye, attached to the Tiger Tails of Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 125, lands on the flight deck of the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). E-2D Hawkeyes perform tactical airborne, early warning missions to provide valuable information to Carrier Strike Group 5 as it plans and executes operations. Bottom Left ... A F/A-18E Super Hornet, attached to the Eagles of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 115, lands on the flight deck of the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). The Eagles conduct carrier-based air strikes and strike force escort missions, as well as ship, battle group and intelligence collection operations. Bottom Right ... A C-2A Greyhound, attached to the Providers of Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 30, launches from the flight deck of the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). VRC 30 is one of only two carrier-qualified logistics support squadrons, providing supplies, personnel and logistics support to Carrier Strike Group 5.
