Francis Scott Key Memorial Buoy Salute May 26, 2023 May 24, 2023 - Crewmembers aboard the Coast Guard Cutter James Rankin, a 175-foot buoy tender homeported in Baltimore, Maryland, render a proud salute standing at attention after setting the Francis Scott Key Memorial Buoy in the Patapsco River in Baltimore Harbor. Formalized as an annual Coast Guard duty in 1980, this year marks the 43rd spring setting of the Francis Scott Key Memorial Buoy by a Coast Guard cutter’s crew.
