U.S. Navy and ROKN Ships Formation April 10, 2023
March 27, 2023 - Aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) along with Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Decatur (DDG 73) and USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) steam in formation with the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) destroyer ROKS Sejong the Great (DDG 991), Chungmugong Yi Sun-Sin-class multipurpose destroyer ROKS Choe Yeong (DDH 981), and Cheonji-class fast combat support ship ROKS Hwacheon (AOE 59) during a bilateral exercise at an undisclosed sea area. The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group is conducting a bilateral maritime exercise with the ROKN in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy's largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with Allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo Pacific region.
