Battle Of An-Nasiriyah Memorial Service March 24, 2023
March 23, 2023 - U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, honor the fallen during the memorial service for the 20th anniversary of the battle of An-Nasiriyah on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Joining the Marines for the memorial service were Sailors, veterans, and guests. The Battle of Nasiriyah was fought between the US 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, aided by the British military, and Iraqi forces from March 23 to April 2 in 2003 during the US-led invasion of Iraq. On the night of March 24–25, the bulk of the Marines of Regimental Combat Team 1 passed through the city over the bridges and attacked north towards Baghdad.
