SpaceX Crew-5 Night Splashdown March 14, 2023
The SpaceX Dragon Endurance spacecraft with Crew-5 mission members aboard descends from space for a parachute-assisted splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Tampa, Florida on March 11, 2023 at 9:02 p.m. EST after 157 days in space. Support teams then safely retrieved the spacecraft from the water followed by the astronauts removal, who are seen together on onboard the SpaceX recovery ship Shannon shortly after the landing. The spacecraft crew ... NASA astronauts Nicole Mann and Josh Cassada, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut Koichi Wakata, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Anna Kikina ... spent 157 days in space as part of Expedition 68 aboard the International Space Station. Their efforts included performing spacewalks to prepare the space station for solar arrays along with conducting experiments on growing plants without soil and studying radiation exposure.
