Flaming Mortar Bomb Breaches Barrel February 10, 2023
February 7, 2023 - A flaming mortar bomb/shell breaches the barrel (metal tube) of a M120 120 mm mortar system immediately after being fired by U.S. Army Paratroopers assigned to 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, during Exercise Thunder Mortar Gunnery at Pocek Range in Slovenia. The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army Contingency Response Force in Europe, capable of projecting ready forces anywhere in the U.S. European, Africa or Central Commands' areas of responsibility.
