Marines Conduct VBSS Aboard USS Miguel Keith February 2, 2023 January 30, 2023 - U.S. Marines with maritime raid force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit conduct a simulated visit, board, search, and seizure exercise aboard the USS Miguel Keith (ESB-5) off the coast of Okinawa, Japan. The training refines Marines’ skills in maritime interdiction by incorporating real world scenarios from room clearing to hostage rescue. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
