USCG Cutter Polar Star Transits Icy Antarctica December 31, 2022
December 25-28, 2022 - U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star (WAGB 10) transits through pack ice in the Southern (Antarctica) Ocean as crewmembers look out across the ice dotted by penguins. Polar Star is en route to Antarctica in support of Operation Deep Freeze, a joint service, inter-agency support operation for the National Science Foundation, which manages the United States Antarctic Program.
