Views of the Andrew Jackson monument at the center of Jackson Square, a 2.5-acre National Historic Landmark, and the flowing Mississippi River (below) just a short distance away in the popular New Orleans French Quarter in June 2022. Jackson Square attracts over 2 million visitors and locals each year with many enjoying other local things to do including a riverboat cruise and the National WWII Museum. Andrew Jackson, was the 7th president of the United States from 1829 to 1837, who is known for his military leadership as a general in the United States Army who was involved in the victory of the Battle of New Orleans in 1812.
