Sailors Man Newly Commissioned USS Oregon May 29, 2022
May 28, 2022 – Crewmembers attached to the U.S. Navy Virginia-class fast attack submarine USS Oregon (SSN 793) stand at attention on deck during its commissioning ceremony in Groton, Connecticut. SSN 793, the third U.S Navy ship launched with the name Oregon and first in more than a century, is a flexible, multi-mission platform designed to carry out the seven core competencies of the submarine force: anti-submarine warfare; anti-surface warfare; delivery of special operations forces; strike warfare; irregular warfare; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; and mine warfare.
