Stunning Lake Haiyaha and Peaks Wintry Scene February 11, 2022
A wintry stunning scene of ice-covered, cloud shaded Lake Haiyaha with the sunlit snow blanketed 12,486-foot Otis Peak on the left, and 12,713-foot Hallett Peak towards the right across the lake separated by the Chaos Canyon near Estes Park, Colorado. The lake and its dynamic views can be accessed by the Lake Haiyaha trail in Rocky Mountain National Park that begins from the Bear Lake Trailhead. The one way 3.9 mile round-trip hike with a 9475 feet elevation offers other memorable nature scenes of lakes, peaks, and forest residents. Lake "Haiyaha" gets its name from the Arapaho word meaning boulder. Rocky Mountain National Park includes some of the highest mountains in the continental United States. The top third of the park encompasses the alpine tundra, a windswept land above the trees. Landscapes on either side of the Continental Divide feature alpine lakes, forested valleys and a wide range of plants and animals. Iconic summer thunderstorms and persistent winter winds are among the forces that continue to shape this majestic landscape. Image created by USA Patriotism! from U.S. National Park Service photo.
