Independence Day Celebration July 8, 2021 July 3, 2021 - Visitors to the Independence Day celebration at the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri enjoy the Stars and Stripes Picnic with performances by the U.S. Navy ... Ceremonial Guard "Drill Team Platoon", Navy Parachute Team, the Leap Frogs, and musicians ... along with an evening fireworks display. The event was part of Kansas City Navy Week, the first in-person Navy Week since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing Sailors from different Navy units across the U.S. to conduct focused outreach with members of the community. Navy Weeks consist of a series of events coordinated by the Navy Office of Community Outreach designed to give Americans an opportunity to learn about the Navy, its people and its importance to national security and prosperity.
