Man Transportable Robot System Increment II

April 14, 2021 - U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Shayne Mooney, Explosive Ordinance Disposal technician, operates the Man Transportable Robot System Increment II (MTRS II) during field training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The two bottom scenes show the MTSR II removing a simulated pressure plate and traveling down steps.

The MTRS II is a medium-sized remotely operated robot designed to offer enhanced protection capability for forces operating in harmful environments. Using the robot, EOD units can operate from a safe distance when detecting and disposing of unexploded explosive ordnance.
