First Stinger Fired On Mark VI Boat March 10, 2021
February 27, 2021 - U.S. Marines with 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), fire a stinger launch simulator from a Mark VI patrol boat during a live-fire exercise in the Philippine Sea. This training event was the first time a stinger launch simulator has been fired from a Mark VI patrol boat. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the Amphibious Squadron 11 in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
