Fort Pulaski National Monument
January 25, 2021
Fort Pulaski National Monument is located on Cockspur Island between Savannah and Tybee Island, Georgia. It preserves Fort Pulaski after the Confederate Army surrendered it during the Civil War to the Union Army due to its successful testing of rifled cannon in 1862, as shown in the bottom scene viewed from the south. The cannon barrage success rendered brick fortifications obsolete. Fort Pulaski was also used as a prisoner-of-war camp.
