Wupatki Pueblo September 18, 2020 Wupatki is the largest pueblo in the Wupatki National Park. People gathered here during the 1100s, gradually building this 100-room pueblo with a community room and ballcourt. By 1182, perhaps 85 to 100 people lived at Wupatki Pueblo, the largest building for at least fifty miles. Visitors can take a self-guided trail that begins behind the Wupatki Pueblo visitor center. Wupatki National Park, nestled between the Painted Desert and ponderosa highlands of northern Arizona ... is a landscape of legacies. Ancient pueblos dot red-rock outcroppings across miles of prairie. Where food and water seem impossible to find, people built pueblos, raised families, farmed, traded, and thrived.
