April 24, 2015 - Utilitiesman 2nd Class Elmer Agonias, a Seabee assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, secures the rear of his patrol while other Seabees carry a simulated injured team member on an improvised stretcher down a steep hill at Jungle Warfare Training Center in Okinawa, Japan. More than 60 Seabees from NMCB-5 attended the weeklong course taught by Marine instructors. The course is designed to prepare Marines and joint forces for the rigors of combat in a dense jungle environment. NMCB 5 is currently deployed to Japan and several countries in the Pacific area of operations conducting construction operations and humanitarian assistance projects. Korean War veteran Walter Derebeew who escaped from Russia during World War II attends the historic aircraft sweep over the National Mall in Washington, D.C. during the Arsenal of Democracy Flyover to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the European theater victory in WWII, May 8, 2015. Soldiers from the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) have a duty to respectfully honor America's sons and daughters who have lost their lives in defense of this great nation. "Flags In" is a four hour event in which over 1,000 Soldiers from The Old Guard remember service members in Arlington National Cemetery, VA by placing a flag on over 228,000 headstones in the cemetery.
