"Colors, movingly performed by The
Oak Ridge Boys, is a great patriotic song that every
American should hear ... And the associated video nicely
illustrates the heartfelt meaning of Colors! ... Colors and
The Oak Ridge Boys performance of it will never fade, remaining
bright and true for all time!" David Bancroft, USA Patriotism! founder
LYRICS
Chorus:
Red as the bloodshed, blue as the wounded,
white as the crosses on our soldier's graves.
Through the rain, through the sun, these colors never run.
Verse 1:
I first saw her standing on the corner of the stage
and I've been pledging my allegiance ever since.
We often take for granted her old familiar wave
but that freedom cost a lot of brave men and women
Chorus:
It's one that's red as the bloodshed, blue as the wounded,
white as the crosses on our soldier's graves.
Through the rain, through the sun, these colors never run.
No they never will.
Verse 2:
Now I've seen people treat her like she was some old rag,
clueless to the human sacrifice.
But you'll always find a mother, a widow, a child,
a sister or a brother with a carefully folded teardrop in their eyes.
Chorus:
It's one that's red as the bloodshed, blue as the wounded,
white as the crosses on our soldier's graves.
Through the rain, through the sun, these colors never run.
No, these colors never run.
Joe Bonsall's
heartfelt comments about The Oak Ridge Boys' Grammy
nominated inspiring, patriotic album,
Colors...
"In 2003, The Oak Ridge Boys recorded a
very special album project for the Spring Hill Music Group.
Colors has become one of our most popular projects in the
last decade. We recorded the CD to honor America and to pay
tribute to those who have defended (and now defend) the
freedoms of our great country. I believe we accomplished
that goal with songs like An American Family, Colors,
American Beauty, The Home Stretch, and This Is America."
