forces take part in Exercise Aurora
17 on Gotland Island, Sweden ... with an amphibious assault
that moves inland with combat in a forest.
Aurora 17, a Swedish exercise
designed to increase the national and joint military
capabilities necessary to protect their homeland. The
exercise included over 19,000 Swedish personnel along with
an estimated 1500 personnel from Denmark, Estonia, Finland,
France, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway and the United States. Not
only was it the largest exercise for Sweden in 23 years but
it was also the first time in 20 years that Sweden’s
parliament exercised its wartime powers.
