July 2017 - U.S. Marines and fellow
troops from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit along with
Australian forces land on Freshwater beach in the Shoalwater
Bay Training Area with during exercise Talisman Saber 2017.
Once the beach is secured by the pre-landing force, follow
up marines land in assault amphibious vehicles, landing
craft utilities, V-22 Ospreys and landing craft air cushion
hovercraft ... and conduct live fire activities ... followed
by an aerial view of the beach assault.
The Talisman Saber, a biennial
series of exercises, is the principal Australian and United
States Military Training activity focused on the planning
and conduct of mid-intensity ‘high end’ war fighting.
Exercise Talisman Saber is the largest combined, joint
military exercise undertaken by the Australian Defence Force
(ADF) and provides invaluable experience to ADF personnel to
improve combat training, readiness and interoperability,
exposing participants to a wide spectrum of military
capabilities and training experiences.
The Talisman Saber 2017 involves
more than 30,000 U.S. and Australian participants, operating
in the maritime, land, and air environments.
