December 2016 - U.S. Marines with
3rd Battalion 5th Marine Regiment conduct a battalion air
assault during Steel Knight 2017, landing at Yuma Proving
Grounds, Yuma, Arizona. This air assault was part of
Operation Seahorse Wind and is the largest air assault in
over a decade of training.
The 1st Marine Division remains the
most active and engaged ground combat element in the Marine
Corps. Training exercises, like Steel Knight 2017, provide
opportunities for the Division to exercise its full range of
capabilities. This air assault was part of Operation
