Between 1942 and 1945 William Wyler
volunteered to serve as a Major in the United States Army Air Forces
and directed the documentary, "The Memphis Belle: A Story of a
Flying Fortress" in 1944 about a Boeing B-17 and its U.S. Army Air
Force crew ... Here are scenes of the Memphis Belle and her crew
during World War II that are public domain and provided by the
National Archives along with its present day restoration efforts by
the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
