U.S. Fourth Air Force (4th Air Force / 4th AF / 4AF) headquartered
at March Air Reserve Base, California is one of the four original
pre–World War II numbered air forces with activation ion December
18, 1940 and formally established in 1948, It involves the training,
activities, and supervision of more than 30,000 Airmen across 15
wings and two groups with a mission of air defense of the
Southwestern United States and Lower Midwest regions.
