1st Infantry (The Big Red One) In The Vietnam War
This special takes a look at the oldest division in the United States
Army, the 1st Infantry (nicknamed the The Big Red One) in the Vietnam
War. Arriving in July 1965, the division began combat operations within
two weeks and had participated in three major operations: Hump,
Bushmaster 1 and Bushmaster II, under the command of MG Jonathan O.
Seaman by the end of 1965. The soldiers of the "Big Red One" continued
to battle the enemy and work on civic action projects until its
departure in 1970.
