Ever since the American Boy Scouts were organized, the U.S.
Army has been one of its best friends and chief boosters.
This 1960's THE BIG PICTURE episode, with John Daly as
host-narrator, shows us a few of the things the Army has
done for the Scouts and some of the things the Scouts have
done for the Army. Some of the finest opportunities for
American youth to meet and know the youth of other countries
have come about through scout get togethers supported by
members of our armed forces both here and abroad. One of the
highlights of this film is the story of two Scouts, one an
American and the other a citizen of Denmark, spending the
long winter night as active members of Camp Century, the
nuclear-powered military research center which the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers recently built deep under the frozen
surface of Greenland.
