The U.S. nuclear arsenal has been
based on the triad system since the 1960s and sustains
America's nuclear deterrence. It involves a system of delivery vehicles comprised of a sea, land, and air deterrent based on
land-based Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs),
Strategic Aerial Bombers, and Submarine Launched
Ballistic Missiles (SLBMs).
