July 30, 2016 - Several Boy Scouts and Civil Air
Patrol cadets went to new heights with a little help from the Colorado
National Guard. Scouts and cadets from across Denver spent the day at
the Army Aviation support facility on Buckley Air Force base learning
about aviation and even took a flight over Denver in Army helicopters.
The event is part of a Colorado National Guard community outreach
program.
While the Scouts did learn about aviation,
assistant scoutmaster Steve Calhoun believes the children are getting
life lessons. The boy scouts received the aviation merit badge for
participating in the days events bringing many of them closer to
becoming eagle scouts.
