  Wounded Warrior Joe Perez
December 2013 - Joe Perez, U.S. Marine Corps / Army National Guard
veteran, was struck in the head during a prison riot
while on deployment to Iraq in 2003. He ignored the injury until he was
forced to seek treatment, which started with a medical evacuation
through Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.
While he still lives with
both physical and invisible injuries, Joe's successful reintegration
into civilian life includes volunteering with his local fire department
in a small town outside Las Vegas, Nevada.
