The USO once again brought holiday cheer to deployed
troops downrange with our USO 2013 Christmas Convoy. The
tradition continued with USO Senior Vice President of
Operations Alan Reyes and USO staffers who work
downrange handing out gifts to troops who won't be able
to make it home to celebrate with their families. The
gifts ranged from televisions and video game systems for
entire units to enjoy all the way to Big Apple Care
Packs for individual service members. The packs --
supplied by the USO of Metropolitan New York -- included
snacks, toiletries and New York Yankees hats.
Country music sensation Kellie Pickler joined in on this
year's USO Christmas Convoy, traveling to remote forward
operation bases in Afghanistan on Christmas Eve. Along
with USO volunteers, Kellie handed out gifts to crowds
of soldiers happy to see a reminder of home during the
Holiday Season.
Every gift was made possible by the generosity of the
American people, who donate to the convoy throughout the
year.
