Why the U.S. Constitution is Relevant Today by Matt Fitzgibbons
September 19, 2016 - As I've spoken with people around the country over many
years, I've found that many of us are completely unfamiliar with
our founding principles. These are the simple, but timeless
ideas in our Declaration of Independence, Constitution and the
Bill of Rights. But it's no wonder given that many schools
around the U.S. no longer teach civics, a subject essential to
maintaining our individual liberty.
Our founders
understood that government is a necessary evil, best kept small
and local. This wisdom came from both their knowledge of history
as well as their personal experiences as subjects of the British
Empire. History demonstrates over and over again that no matter
what side of the aisle we might be on, their wisdom applies as
much today as it did when they founded our Republic.
Unfortunately, we are repeating history in many avoidable ways
right now.
The goal of my video, "Why the U.S.
Constitution is Relevant Today", is to give viewers a good
understanding of our Constitution in 8 1/2 minutes and to show
why we must regularly endeavor to keep it intact.
